Solution
Explanation Y has to be 0 and T has to be even since TWENTY is divisible by 20. E and O are even, using the same reasoning. N is also even to satisfy O + Y and E + N. Then W, L and V must be odd and two odd integers are not used. E + N is less than 10 to satisfy WO + TY and VE + EN. O + Y and E + N yields four possibilities for values of O, Y, E and N. TWO + NTY and LVE + TEN yields three possibilities . But only 876 + 480 and 532 + 824 yields a TWELVE which is divisible by 12. Technology Review |
