Concentrate on the digits which have multiple potential matches per position because there must be 10 matches total per position among the 5 positions. Triple matches occur for xx1xx and xxx7x.
For the car code, both xx13x and xx17x are disqualified. That leaves xx87x. That leads to x987, then x9876, then 39876.
